Framwellgate School Durham is committed to preparing its Sixth Form students for the next stage of their lives and their future careers and we are highly successful in doing so. If you are considering joining us in September, you will be joining a school with a strong reputation for academic success and an innovative approach to designing courses that meet individual needs.
It is important that you start your studies with high aspirations and a level of commitment that will sustain you through the challenges of sixth form study. Our programme of accredited enrichment courses, work placements and pre-university experience will help you to do this. The Competitive University Programme for example is designed to support students who wish to apply for Russell Group universities and the school’s excellent links to the professions and industry provide some exceptional opportunities, for example our internship programme, to extend learning and to give you the edge in your UCAS application.
The school is proud of its reputation as a place that cares for and supports its students. Our Sixth Form team are situated in the newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre and will provide all the encouragement and guidance that you need to succeed.
Framwellgate Sixth Form is a highly supportive, successful and thriving community, which prides itself on providing incredible opportunities for all of its students. Not only do we have considerable academic successes every year, but we also recognise the importance of developing well-rounded individuals, and provide an extensive range of extracurricular activities that aid personal development and extend learning beyond the classroom. Every student is considered as an individual, with opportunities developed to suit all interests. Our extremely successful internship programme, which allows students to gain experience and guidance from experts in industry, is an invaluable asset to anyone applying to university or seeking employment. During my time at Fram, I have had numerous incredible opportunities, including visiting CERN in Switzerland to deliver a presentation after carrying out an undergraduate-style research project. I have also had opportunities working with partners in higher education and business to develop the skills required to thrive beyond Sixth Form.
Students at Fram have a genuine say in what goes on, with open weekly student council meetings ensuring that every opinion is considered. The friendly and supportive atmosphere at Fram nurtures all academic and personal interests, whilst encouraging independent learning. Our Head of Sixth Form and deeply passionate teachers all take a personal interest in the successes and achievements of every student, and personalised advice and support from our guidance manager helps you to plan your future beyond Sixth Form. The tutor system provides additional support, with year 13 students and a teacher from your subject area being on hand daily to help the transition into Sixth Form.
Whether you are new to the school, or joining us from year 11, Fram will provide opportunities to help you to realise your aspirations and stand out from the crowd.
