Library and Learning Resource Centre

FSD is privileged to have a fully stocked library and learning resource centre for use by our staff and students before, during and after school.

Our opening hours are:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8.00am – 4.00pm.
  • Wednesday and Friday: 8.00am – 3.30pm
  • All students are welcome to use the LRC during the above opening hours to borrow and return books, use the computers for school work, and buy stationery items.
  • Access to table areas at lunchtime for all year groups.

Every Monday after school we hold the Secret Book Club. An informal opportunity to borrow not-yet-published titles, and feed back on whether you feel they are good enough to buy for the library.

After school on Thursdays we go to war with Warhammer! If you are already a gamer you may bring your own (bags may be left in the librarian’s office for safekeeping during the day), but if you are new to Warhammer we have plenty that you can use to join a battle!

The North East Teenage Book Awards group meets after school every Wednesday. We are all trying to read the six shortlisted titles before attending the award ceremony in February! This year’s shortlist consists of:

Could you survive a zombie apocalypse? You could if you attended the Zombie Apocalypse Training course after school every Thursday!

Why not drop in after school on a Friday to get that pesky homework out of the way, or play a board game with friends? We are only open for half an hour, but would love to see you!
