A Level and Vocational Results 2018
Students and staff are celebrating an excellent set of A Level and BTEC results. The vast majority of our students will go on to study at their chosen universities and colleges or take up apprenticeships. Headteacher Andy Byers stated, “I know that our students would join me in thanking their teachers and parents for the support they have received but they should be very proud of their own hard work and commitment. The Government has reformed A Levels over the last two years, making them more demanding so it is worth noting that students and teachers have faced a challenging situation with new material, all the exam papers taken at the end of Year 13 and only a limited number of practice papers available from the exam boards. They have coped admirably with these changes.”
There were some fantastic individual successes with one student achieving four A* grades and students taking up places at a range of universities including Cambridge, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Northumbria, Sunderland, St. Andrews and Lancaster.
Our Sixth form was graded as Good by Ofsted in May this year and these results demonstrate our continued improvement over the last 12 months. Our Average Points Score and percentage of top grades are both higher than last year. Over a quarter of all A Level entries were graded A* or A, and our inclusive approach ensures that students have performed above target across a range of A Level and vocational subjects. We would like to wish all those students leaving us a happy and successful time at university or in their chosen career.
